Employee Spotlight – Ellison Smith

“That’ll do, Pig. That’ll do.” – Farmer Hoggett, Babe

A Greenville native, Ellison has spent the better part of three decades working in the accounting field where he grew up. Working closely with his clients has always been important to him, and thankfully he has been able to do that every day since he was first hired by BGC in 1999. Ellison spends most of his days working directly with lawyers, physicians, engineers, and other professional service businesses as one of the tax partners for the firm. Not discovering his propensity for numbers until his first accounting class, Ellison breezed through the rest of his schooling to get his bachelors in Financial Management from Clemson University, and hasn’t looked back since.

A fan of the 1995 film, “Babe”; Ellison enjoys hiking, reading, playing with his dogs, and cheering on his Alma Mater, the Clemson Tigers. Ellison currently serves on the board of David’s Table, an organization that supports disabled children. He is also an active participant of Meals on Wheels and The Family Effect. Giving back to the community with these two charities is extremely important to Ellison since they help with the most vulnerable members of our society.

Having grown up in Greenville, Ellison has seen this area expand in ways he never would have imagined, and he takes pride in making sure it continues to grow in the best way possible. One day he hopes to visit New Zealand, hike all of the Foothills Trail, and eventually find a nice quiet space in the country to relax in. Until that time, Ellison will continue serving his community as the hardworking, gentle, caring professional he is.
