“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. When you rise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breath, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
“It was not my choice to enroll in an Accounting class during my Junior year at Landrum High School,” Ricky admits, “but my teacher, Mrs. Donna Pace, is the reason I pursued a career in Accounting.” More than a dozen years later, Ricky has an undergraduate degree from USC Upstate in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a Master’s degree from Gardner Webb University in Accountancy with a concentration in Tax. He is professionally accredited as a CPA and has compiled more than 7 years of experience in Public Accounting with another 2 years of accounting experience in the Private Sector. He is also professionally affiliated with the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ricky has been with us since January 2015 and has proven to be a valuable member of the team for many reasons. He is extremely capable in handling federal and state tax returns for individuals and companies, specializing in returns pertaining to Not-For-Profit companies, Construction & Contractors, and companies dealing with Real Estate and Rental Properties. He oversees the scheduling, personal development and training for select members of our Tax Department, provides assistance and guidance in responding to tax notices and lends a hand in our audit department when the pressures of tax season ease up.
He is our go-to guy for our computer systems. Ricky oversees all of our software implementations, develops our firm’s IT procedures and works closely with our external IT Company, SC Upstate IT, to ensure the integrity and smooth operation of all our hardware and software. He manages the internal IT Team and skillfully troubleshoots computer issues that may arise for our staff.
When we’re not keeping him busy at work, Ricky enjoys life with his wife, Heather, and their two dogs, Harry and Dutchess. He enjoys working out at the gym, playing golf and serving at Eden Wesleyan Church. Ricky’s love for people is evident in the warm relationships he has built with our own staff and with every client he serves.
